A private graveside service for Marilyn Gabbert, 74, of Longville, will be on Friday, September 20, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Wood Lake. A public memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Longville Community Church.
Marilyn Kathleen Gabbert was born on November 18, 1949, in Granite Falls, MN, to Albert and Irene (Bommersbach) Gabbert. She grew up in Wood Lake, then spent most of her professional career in the Minneapolis area. Marilyn later moved to the Longville area where she worked in administrative and secretarial positions for a law firm, a title company, monument company, excavation company, and many other individuals. She was a proud and active member of the Community Church in Longville for 30 years where she was head of Deacons and held many offices within the church. Marilyn especially loved singing in the church choir.
Marilyn worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Longville, coordinating many successful events over the years. A couple of events she helped set up and coordinate included the 4th of July parade in Longville and the Run Around Woman Lake. She also worked with the Longville Fire Department doing special events. Marilyn also enjoyed being an Avon rep for many years.
Marilyn’s favorite thing to do was spend time with family and friends, including traveling with her friends. She loved looking at the lake from her living room window and rooting for the Minnesota Vikings.
Marilyn died on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Irene (Bommersbach) Gabbert and her brother Ronald Gabbert. She is survived by her brother Ron’s family, including her sister-in-law (Laurie Sickman Gabbert), her nephews (Micheal (Carey) Gabbert, Matthew (Jill) Gabbert, Mitchell Gabbert) as well as many friends.
