     James Edmund Zumwalde (age 83) passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024. Jim was one of seven children. He was born on July 17, 1940 to Edmund and Vivian Zumwalde. Jim grew up in South Saint Paul and later joined the Navy from July 1958 to July 1962. His last Navy assignment was aboard the USS Cabildo. Upon Jim’s retirement from the U.S. Postal Service, he moved from Saint Paul to Remer, MN with his wife Joan to enjoy the lake life. Jim loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends

      He was preceded in death by his parents; Edmund and Vivian Zumwalde, sister; Barbara Zumwalde, and grandson; Jacob Guy.

   He is survived by his son; David (Cathy) Zumwalde, daughter; Barbara Guy (finance Jon), step-sons; Tim (Bethanne) Clasen, Tom (Natalie) Clasen, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings. 

   Jim’s memorial service will be held June 5, 2024 at Kessler Maguire Funeral Home (640 West 7th Street, Saint Paul, MN 55103) at 11 a.m. with a visitation 1 hour prior.
