Vehicle pursuit leads to charges
Sheriff Bryan Welk reports that on May 22nd, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m. a Cass County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in Boy Lake Township, rural Boy River, for traffic violations. The Deputy had initial contact with the driver of the vehicle, identifying him as an adult male known to law enforcement. The suspect vehicle backed quickly into the law enforcement vehicle, striking it, and then fled from the scene. A short pursuit was initiated, ending on a dead-end road. The driver of the vehicle fled from the vehicle and was later located. The driver was treated for a medical emergency on scene and transported via helicopter to a St. Cloud hospital. Formal charges will be pending on the adult male driver.
Assisting on the scene was the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department, Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, Longville Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.
