Summer programming underway at the Longville Library

The Longville Library would like to invite kids and teens to register at the library to participate in the 2024 Read Renew Repeat summer reading program. Summer reading programs at the library encourage kids and teens to read their choice of books throughout the summer while earning prizes in the process.  This program runs through July 27th; the library allows participants the following week to turn in their reading logs. Stop in the library and pick up a registration folder and ask the librarians about other special activities such as the Read, Renew, Repeat Activity Challenge, spot a songbird and identify it using library field guides for a prize, Smokey the Bear Reading Challenge and more. All the details for these programs can be found at the library. There will be activity drawings, reading completion drawings and a grand prize drawing for a paintable, lighted remote control moon lamp, Survival Science Lab Kit, Find and Seek Scavenger Hunt Card Game, Kid/teen size adventure backpack and an outdoor science lab book!

Storytime Thursday mornings at 10:30.  Story and snack provided for preschoolers – Kindergarten age kids accompanied by an adult.

Craft Time: a time of crafting for kids each Friday.  Kids accompanied by an adult may visit the library between the hours of 1:30-3:00 p.m. to participate in making a craft of their very own to take home with them.

In the fall of 2023, the Longville Library addition was completed; and locally built furnishings, including new bookshelves, circulation desks and study pods all made from pine, have been complementing the addition as the workmanship is complete. The addition includes a very comfortable new meeting/program room that is available during library hours.

The Longville Library offers many great resources. Come see our new large print area in the new addition on beautiful pine shelves. We have great hobby books for adults as well as the latest fiction by top selling authors. Our children’s section has a variety of picture books, chapter books, early readers and terrific non fiction books about birds, animals, flowers, sports, crafts and much more. Be sure to stop by our dvd and audiobook section for items that are available to check out on your library card. It’s a great place for moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas to spend quality time with the kids this summer. The library also offers a life jacket program with baby and children’s size lifejackets available for a one week check out on your library card.  Access wifi, use public computers, printers, fax, scanner, hotspots and much more!
