Leech Lake area pro-lifers organize as a chapter of MCCL
Walker, MN – On June 1, 2024, Leech Lake Area pro-life advocates organized as a chapter of Minnesota’s pre-eminent Right to Life organization, Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, or MCCL. The announcement was made in a joint statement today by Don Parker, MCCL co-executive director, and Mary Jo Warren, Walker MN, chair of the new chapter that is part of a network of 80 MCCL chapters across Minnesota.
“Our newest chapter will help coordinate MCCL’s pro-life mission throughout the greater Leech Lake area, including Walker, Hackensack, Akeley, Nevis, Cass Lake, Bena, Remer, and Longville,” said Parker. “We look forward to working with the new chapter in the areas of education, presentations and promoting pro-life legislation in both St. Paul and Washington, DC,” he said.
Warren, a pro-life volunteer with “40 Days for Life”, said the move to become an MCCL chapter serving an expanded Leech Lake Area is needed now more than ever. “The recent Minnesota legislature came within an eyelash of enshrining abortion until birth into Minnesota’s state constitution but the move failed at the 11th hour thanks in no small measure to MCCL and other pro-life organizations,” said Warren.
“We know those who want an unfettered right to abortion in our state constitution will be back again in the 2025 legislative session and we will need all area pro-lifers on the front lines in defeating once and for all this evil in our great state,” she said.
The Leech Lake Area MCCL Chapter is sponsoring a Legislative Town Hall Meeting at The Hub in Hackensack on Saturday, June 22, at 1 p.m. Guest speaker will be State Rep. Krista Knudsen, (R) District 5a who will review the recent MN legislative session. The meeting is free and open to the public.
