July 24, 1924
The Monday morning storm did quite a bit of damage at Federal Dam. It destroyed apple trees on the Miller, Shoemaker, and Putnam places and broke windows at McNair’s.
The Hackensack road is almost impassable at present, and we hope that the work done will be an improvement.
The Trelipe Community Club had charge of one of the most successful picnics held in the Vangen Grove at Inguadona last Sunday.
75 Years Ago
July 22, 1949
Frank Troop, a well-known resident of Remer, died July 19th at Aunt Mary’s Rest Home in Walker and the age of 94.
One day last week, a lightning bolt struck Ponsford’s Resort on Ponto Lake. It also struck a couple of people walking near Ponto Lake store and knocked them to the pavement.
Virgil Rex Jackson and Jeanette Rose Dana, both of Remer, applied for a marriage license.

July 25, 1974
Emil Handleland passed away of Friday. He and his wife owned the Long Pine Café for several years at Longville.
On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Ford and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Slagle were guests of Chip Worcester near Big Falls in honor of their 43rd anniversaries.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Manders and Brenda went to Akeley to pick up Maude Stangel and went to Park Rapids Logging Days.

July 27, 1999
Northland Monument owners, Mark and Patty Lange announced the construction of a nearly $1 million plant on Hwy. 200 between Longville and Remer.
Samantha Stangel, age 5, of Longville has been selected as a state finalist in the Miss Minnesota American Co-ed Pageant to be held July 30th-August 1 in Minneapolis.
When the winds of July roared through northern Cass County it left enough devastation to cause Cass County, along with others to be considered a Federal Disaster area.
