Grand Prize Winner

  It was a perfect Sweetheart Day at the lake to be fishing.  It was cooler than the last 2 weeks and the fish were biting, where the big catch of the day was a 14.5 ounce bass. So many happy faces on the youth and the adults cheering on the little minnows during their races.  

Kids fishing contest ages 0-5

At the Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest Tuesday, July 16, 30 kids in the 0-5 year old group, caught and released 46 fish. Jordin V. caught the largest fish (4.3 oz.); Katie R. reeled in the first fish; Beau B. landed the most fish (7); and Eliza B. hooked the smallest fish (5 1/2 inches).

   After the fishing contest, many families enjoyed playing kids games in the park sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary 202.  There was also a fantastic Farmers Market which is held every Tuesday from 10-2 at the Hub. And of course, the wonderful parade down our beautiful First Street. So much CANDY!!!

Kids fishing contest ages 6-9

At the July 16 Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest, 36 kids in the 6-9 year old group, caught and released 94 fish. Andre S. caught the largest fish (10 oz.); Elle reeled in the first fish; Rick R. landed the most fish (38); and the smallest fish was hooked by Ellen C. (3 1/2 inches) .

Kids fishing contest ages 10-15

In the 10-15 year old group, Tuesday, July 16, 33 kids caught and released 140 fish. Marshall G. hooked the largest fish (14.5 oz.); the first fish was caught by Rawson R.; Geena L. caught the most fish (36) and the smallest fish (3 1/2 inches) was landed by Logen S.

   The dates for this year are every Tuesday, June 11th – August 13th, 2024 from 11am - 12:30pm. Be early to register before it starts. We look forward to seeing everyone that can make it.

Minnow Racing Winner
