Flexible Volunteering with Faith in Action
An estimated 850 million volunteers give their time to support a variety of causes, according to a 2021 report by United Nations Volunteers. In the United States in 2021, volunteers served an estimated 4.1 billion hours with an economic value of $122.9 billion, according to americorps.gov.
Volunteering in your community is not only beneficial to the individuals involved, but it is a critical part of our quality of life, as it drives many of the services, activities, and festivals that we enjoy throughout the year. Volunteering provides a sense of purpose and increases self-confidence. People who give back to their communities experience greater life satisfaction, higher self-esteem, and a greater ability to manage adversity. And it’s FUN! Volunteering brings fulfillment to your life.

Not sure how to get involved? There are many opportunities to volunteer in your area – just look around. Volunteers are busy in your community every day of the year. The key is to find something that fits your needs and shares your passions with or concerns for those around you, and flexibility may be the key.

Faith in Action for Cass County is a volunteer program that matches volunteer time and talents with needs in the community. Volunteers choose what, when and how much they want to do. Scheduling is individualized and flexible. Most needs are for transportation, food delivery, light homemaking or chore help, friendly visits or phone calls, or building ramps or basic home repairs. Or maybe you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors or a committee that reviews policy or advises on programs. And if you are looking for something else, we can point you in the right direction.

As in many programs, Faith in Action volunteers are asked to complete registration and background check forms and attend a fun orientation. Volunteers receive scheduling, ongoing support, fun events, liability insurance, and mileage reimbursement. New volunteer orientation is scheduled monthly, or can be done by Zoom at your convenience.
