Church of Cash returns to Music in the Park July 28

A tribute to Johnny Cash will be the final concert in the Music in the Park summer concert series on Sunday, July 28, in Longville. The Church of Cash kicks returns at 5 p. m. at the gazebo in the park area of Salem Lutheran Church, 1340 County Road 5.

Johnny Cash’s unforgettable voice, characterized by its booming timbre and raw power, remains an enduring presence in the collective consciousness. Jay Ernest, the talented vocalist behind Church of Cash, a tribute show band dedicated to Johnny Cash, is instrumental in preserving that legacy. With his resonant and commanding vocals, Ernest ensures that the revered Man in Black’s spirit lives on. The band merely keeps this word alive with a youthful spirit that has entertained audiences throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Members of the group, who are from the Twin Cities area, are Alex Maier on guitar, Marc Bohn on drums, Eric Struve, bass, and Jay Ernest, vocals. The group is a winner of the 2021 and 2019 Midwest CMO “Best Tribute Act” Award and a 2021 Inductee to the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. With over 1,000 shows performed, Church of Cash tours nationally in the US and Europe.

Admission is free, but free-will donations are appreciated. Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets. Popcorn and lemonade is available. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the church. Music in the Park is a community outreach activity of Salem Lutheran Church and supported by the Longville Area Community Choir. It is funded in part with grants from the Longville Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and the Longville Area Foundation.
