CRMC’s EMR and EMT Courses Start This September
The Education Department at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) in Crosby is thrilled to once again offer EMR (First Responder) and EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) courses this fall. These hybrid courses start on September 10 and allow community members to enhance their medical skills and be ready to assist in times of crisis.
The EMT course trains individuals to join a career-based emergency care team. EMTs usually work
alongside other EMTs or Paramedics on ambulance crews but can also support patient care in hospital
emergency departments, including CRMC’s Emergency Department. Classes will be held in person on
Tuesday evenings from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM at CRMC in Crosby with additional course work required
outside of class. The written and practical skills tests are scheduled for January 2025.
The EMR (First Responder) course is designed to equip community members to handle medical
emergencies, as EMRs are often the first to arrive on the scene. There are numerous first responder groups
in the area seeking volunteers, particularly those with a medical background. If you’re interested in the
course, consider reaching out to these groups to explore volunteer opportunities. This 4-week course
includes independent lesson work and assignments, culminating in a skills review and testing on October 8-9.
There are limited spots available for these courses, registration is required by August 23. For more
information or to register, please contact Jodi Bedard in the CRMC Education Department at [email protected] or call 218-546-4367. Visit the events calendar on cuyunamed.org for
