Enjoy a “Delight”-ful Experience at the Northwoods Arts Council’s Music Festival
Once again, the Northwoods Arts Council (NAC) is thrilled to sponsor world-renowned percussionist Josh Duffee and his Big Band for concerts on July 12th and 13th in the Hackensack Community Building. Josh and his 14-piece big band will present “Drummer’s Delight” celebrating the genius of Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa and Louis Bellson. These drummers started by playing with the Big Band leaders of their era and became famous for their contributions to the art and technique of drumming, as well as leading their own bands and composing their own music.
There will be a different performance each night. Friday night will feature music played by Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa, and Saturday night will be a Centennial celebration of Louis Bellson’s career. The night will have special meaning because Louis was Josh’s mentor and friend, and Josh will be playing on a drum set that Louis’ widow gifted to him.
Concerts will start each evening at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available on the NAC website www.northwoodsartscouncil.org, in person at Swanson’s Bait and Southside Fuel in Hackensack, or by scanning the code on our posters and newspaper ads.
The NAC extends a BIG THANKS to Russ & Loralee Torkelson, Cragun’s Resort, Hackensack Lion’s Club, and John & Jayne Lasser, the Gold-Level Sponsors of this event. Also, to the Five Wings Arts Council, Itasca-Mantrap and the Hackensack Lakes Area Community Foundation for their grants. Together with other generous donors, they’re helping the NAC bring this quality entertainment to our community at affordable ticket prices. See you there!
