In loving memory of Rose Mary (Miska) Franta, age 85, who peacefully embarked on her final journey, reuniting with her beloved husband Scott on January 17, 2024. Born on August 22, 1938, in New Prague, Rosie’s roots ran deep on the family farm near Saint Thomas where she blossomed into the remarkable woman we all knew.
Her journey began at Saint Wenceslaus in New Prague, where she graduated in 1956. She found her true love and soulmate, Scott Franta, whom she married on July 12, 1958. Scott’s 35-year career as an esteemed school teacher in Montgomery found unwavering support from Rosie.
The blessings of their union extended to three wonderful children: Jeff, Tom, and Sue. Rosie, the heart of the family, instilled strong Catholic values in her children, creating a home filled with love and devotion.
Upon Scott’s retirement, the couple embraced an active ‘lake life’ in Longville, MN. Rosie immersed herself in the community, church, and bridge clubs, embodying vitality and warmth. Despite Scott’s passing in September 2009, Rosie’s indomitable spirit endured, prompting a return to New Prague in recent years.
At Praha Village, Rosie’s energy remained infectious, marked by her passion for bridge, spanning over 50 years and including partners from Montgomery, Longville, and Praha. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Rosie’s legacy shines through her roles, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew her. A steadfast woman who stood by the side of her husband and actively supported her children in all of their endeavors. She will long be remembered for her willingness to take on volunteer leadership roles at Saint Edward’s Church and the Turtle Races in Longville. To know her was to love her.
Survived by her children Jeff (Janell) Franta, Tom Franta, and Susan (Jeff) McCarthy; grandchildren Jared Franta, Jozlyn (Tony) O’Connell, Alexandra Franta, and Nicholas Franta; and great-grandchildren Kayden, Braelynn, Beau, and Isaiah; and siblings Tony, Katie, and Monica. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 51-years Scott, parents Joseph and Mary (Miska), sister Theresa, brothers Joseph, Stanley, and Jack, and daughter-in-law Rebecca (Boettcher) Franta.
In honoring Rosie’s wishes, a small gravesite blessing will be held in Longville at a date and time to be determined. Arrangements entrusted to Whispering Pines Funeral Home of Walker & Hackensack. May her memory bring comfort and solace during this challenging time.
