   Cass Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Outstanding Conservationist Award was presented Nov. 2 to the Barg family, including Shirley, Clayton, Sandy, Jason, and Jennifer Barg, who farm in southern Cass County. Bill Barg was also honored for his conservation work, posthumously.  

   The Barg family has worked with the Cass SWCD and the National Resources Conservation Service on several projects to continuously improve farming practices to increase conservation on the land, improve soil health, and decrease erosion. This work helps to prevent E.coli contamination in streams and rivers and protects the land for generations to come.  

   The award was presented by Ken LaPorte, Cass Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor, at the Barg farm.  

   The Cass SWCD’s mission is to provide leadership and technical assistance to landowners and cooperating agencies throughout Cass County in the wise use, conservation, and management of Cass County’s natural resources.
