Longville Area Women of Today support skating rink
The Longville Area Women of Today (LAWOT) exemplified their commitment to the community by donating $500 to support the ice skating rink in Longville. This generous contribution aims to improve the rink’s facilities and ensure it remains a vibrant, accessible space for everyone. Additionally, donations help pay the salary of Rink Manager Mark Wheat, who plays a crucial role in maintaining the rink’s operations. His responsibilities include managing the warming house, flooding the rink, shoveling, and operating the 1976 model Zamboni, etc...
The skating rink has been a much-loved community asset since its relocation to the City Park ten years ago. Donations are essential to maintain and enhance the facility, including supplies and repairs such as painting the boards and addressing the needs of the aging Zamboni.
Mayor Kline generously donates his time to regularly sharpen over 200 skates available for free community use. The warming house is open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, providing a welcoming environment for residents to enjoy. For further information or to schedule a party at the skating rink, contact Mark Wheat at 218-838-6098.

The Longville community is encouraged to contribute to the rink’s success, with the goal of having it ready by Christmastime each year. Donations can be made by check payable to the City of Longville, P.O. Box 217, Longville, MN 56655. Please make sure to write “Skating Rink” in the memo line.
