Aug. 21, 1924
A heavy frost occurred last Saturday night and damaged crops. This summer has been one of the coldest on record and also caused light tourist trade.
Rose Lyons Chatfield attended Carlisle and moved to Onigum to become matron of the Boarding School. She and baby died in childbirth.
The Ford Run-about belonging to Ralph Manders was stolen last Saturday night by two men and a woman.

Aug. 19, 1949
Five Remer men were injured in a car accident Friday: Bruce Brown, Jim Myre, Robert Blair, Harold Brown, and Jim Angel, who operated a barber shop in Remer.
Quite a number of the young folks from Federal Dam spent Saturday night at Club 88.
Forrest Snodgrass of Pontoria purchased a new bailing machine last week.

Aug. 22, 1974
The Pleasant Lake Recreation Association held their annual potluck meeting on August 10th. They discussed future construction of Cass Co. 45, fish stocking, and lake pollution prevention.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Spanjer attended a family gathering at Schoolcraft State Park on Sunday.
Several folks from Federal Dam attended the annual Rice Festival on the church grounds at Ball Club on Sunday.

Nine members of the Remer High School Class of 1934 held their 65th class reunion August 14th at Remer’s Double J Steakhouse. There were originally 22 graduates.
Dick Engen of Remer was the lucky winner of a gas grill and $1,500 worth of golf balls for a hole-in-one during the 2nd annual Patrick’s Open Golf Tournament on August 7 at the Ridgewood Golf Course.
Marijean Condon of Longville has been named Cass County’s Outstanding Senior and received recognition at the Cass County Council on Aging.
