The success of the Northwoods Art and Book Festival exceeded all expectations with some 2,500 people attending. Indeed, there was something for everyone. Kids enjoyed interactive playtime activities from Wonder Trex designed to inspire curiosity and launch imaginations in the ball field. A Lion Safari Hunt new to the festival added more kid fun as well as ever popular face painting. 65 artists specializing in handmade original works were testimonials to their creative talent, providing an opportunity for festival-goers to gift shop for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and hostess gifts. 37 authors representing various genres sold and signed their books. It was a wonderful opportunity to chat with authors to learn how their stories evolved into books. Darrell Pedersen, a local Minnesota author shared ideas for documenting family stories through memoir writing. Foods to satisfy various tastes added much joy to the day, from tantalizing pie slices provided by Pies by Guys to other food and drink vendors. Rousing music from Wayne and the Boys was the perfect background to enjoy food and drink while socializing with family and friends. Meet-and-greets with local community organizations provided information to the public. An umbrella of stellar, perfect weather day ensured the overall success of the festival.
Our volunteers helped make this festival possible, as well as the public, for their support for another wonderful event sponsored by Northwoods Arts Council. Mark your calendar for next year’s festival on August 9, 2025.
