Grand Prize Winner

   It was such a beautiful day for the last contest of 2024. Very light breeze and a wonderful 80 degrees. The fish were active, the kids were smiling, the minnows raced, and the contestants casted.  All the hot dogs were eaten and all the candy was dispersed.  Some of our frequent winners brought some poles and tackle boxes back to give out as extra prizes, what a wonderful community friendly gesture.

Kids fishing contest ages 0-5

At the Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest Tuesday, August 13, 26 kids in the 0-5 year old group, caught and released 44 fish. Levi F. caught the largest fish (4.2 oz.); Jasper V. reeled in the first fish; Jordin. landed the most fish (10); while Bo R. hooked the smallest fish (3 3/8 inches).

   Our Backpack Tacklebox, year long contest, was won by Frost Wayne from River Falls, WI.  They are looking forward to receiving their prize.

Kids fishing contest ages 6-9

At the August 13 Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest, 33 kids in the 6-9 year old group, caught and released 110 fish. Oliver V. caught the largest fish (8.5 oz.); Beau D. reeled in the first fish; Rick R. landed the most fish (17); and the smallest fish was hooked by Jagr D. (3 1/8 inches) .

I like to thank all the volunteers that are crucial to make this happen, and they return year after year.  We wouldn’t do it if we didn’t have fun.  We hope to see you next year.

Kids fishing contest ages 10-15

In the 10-15 year old group, Tuesday, August 13, 30 kids caught and released 94 fish. Cooper P. hooked the largest fish (16 oz.); the first fish was caught by Geena L.; Van P. caught the most fish (21) and the smallest fish (2 13/16 inches) was landed by Eli P.

   The hot dog sponsor this week was Edina Realty (www.edinarealty.com/office/hackensack). Thank you for all your help at the contest.

   Year-end Sponsor and Volunteer BBQ was Tuesday, August 13 at 6PM at the Horseshoe Pavilion across from the Legion Post 202. If this all sounds like something you want to be a part of, consider becoming a sponsor or volunteering next year.

Minnow Racing Winner

Bo R. from Hugo was last week’s minnow race winner.

   The dates for NEXT year are every Tuesday, June 10th – August 12th, 2025 from 11am - 12:30pm.
