The Backus Lions were busy workers the last two weeks. On August 9 we held our annual peach sale. These Colorado peaches are always a favorite of community members in Backus as well as other area communities. We appreciate all our customers who support this sale each year. The profit on this sale goes toward scholarships as well as other community donations and the various Lions International foundations. Backus Lions members were also busy during the community Cornfest celebration. Several members helped to serve the meal on Saturday, husking corn, and various other activities. The theme selected by the Cornfest Committee was “Heroes Among Us.” We were honored to be selected as the Grand Marshal for the Cornfest parade. Mark your calendars for August 2025, as we hope to see you at these two events next year. We sincerely appreciate all the people who came out this summer to support the various activities of the Backus Lions, as well as all the Lions Clubs in our surrounding communities.  Submitted by Cora Hohnstadt.
