Aug. 7, 1924
A fire alarm caused the people of Onigum some excitement on Friday when the building that housed the water pump engine took fire and was practically destroyed.
Haying is on at Inguadona, but the weather is not very favorable and hope it will be more settled now.
Ernest Siltman and Pauline Whitted of Wabedo were married at Walker on August 4th.
75 Years Ago
Aug. 5, 1949
Karen Ringstrom is working at Duffy’s Tavern at Boy River.
Miss Leona McKeig, who is employed at the Northland Times in Bemidji, was home for a few hours at Federal Dam Thursday night.
The Congregational Ladies’ Aid held a food sale at Killian’s store in Remer on Saturday.

Aug. 8, 1974
Karen and Jim Underhill are the parents of a baby boy, Michael James, born on July 21st. He was born on his great-grandparent, Ralph Fuller’s birthday.
Mayme Wake entertained Fern Miller, Grace Lego and Mabel McKeig at dinner and cards Wednesday evening.
Peg Wedl visited the Grand Coulee Dam where she met Harold Beggs. Mrs. Beggs was
the former Hazel Zaffke and Harold taught in Boy River and coached from 1957 to 1960.

Aug. 10, 1999
Arlie and Fern Fundaun will be Grand Marshals of the 52nd Remer Harvest Festival. Originally from Nevis and Backus, they moved to Remer and operated the Four Seasons Café in Remer until 1998.
Wanda Russell, 72, a lifelong resident of Remer died August 2nd. She was married to John Russell and was employed at various places of business in Remer.
Richard “Dick” Morgan, 90, died July 2nd. He owned and operated the Remer Star newspaper until 1955. He also worked for the Minnesota Society for the Blind for 25 years.
