LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Longville Farmers Market closes for 2023
While working at the bar this spring, I kept hearing “Longville should have a farmers market.” I also thought it was a great idea and would be nice to have to bring people to town and buy local produce and homemade goodies. So, within a couple hours I found out what I needed to do to get it going and made it happen. It started quickly and the past eight weeks have been wonderful. I’m thankful to the Longville Lions for sponsoring the market, Pat Boen for allowing us to use her property, the vendors and the Women of Today for their bake sale which has helped a young person who is going through cancer. I sincerely appreciate everyone who has partaken in the market and I hope to see it grow bigger for next year. Initially, I thought we’d be doing this through the end of September, however, with the drought and weather changing quickly, gardens are sparse, so Sept. 12 was our last market for this year. Next year I’m thinking mid July through the second week of September. I’m open to suggestions. Contact me at [email protected]
