September 6, 1923

  Vernon Olmstead and Orphia Pearl Hutchinson of Remer were granted a marriage license and were married on September 4. 

   Ben Lego and Esther Shoemaker drove over to Grand Rapids on Sunday.

   George Glandon and father of Brainerd spent the weekend at Wabedo and Boy River.

75 Years Ago

September 3, 1948

   Mr. and Mrs. McMasters are making improvements on their farm home at Turtle Lake recently purchased from Neil Dewey.

   Mr. and Mrs. Ed McKeig, Nancy and Leona spent Sunday in Backus at the Roy Travis home.

   Mrs. Joe Jackson returned to Onigum from the rice camp Wednesday afternoon.

50 Years Ago

September 6, 1973

   Dorothy Munig and husband of Wilton called on Grace Lego and the Robert Wakes on Sunday. Dorothy’s mother was married to Grace’s father, Ralph Shoemaker, and had lived on the farm now occupied by the Wakes.

   Rev. Fr. Flynn assumed his duties as pastor of St. Paul’s Catholic church in Remer and St. Edward’s church in Longville on August 25th.

   Mr. and Mrs. Riley Ford were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary by 350 friends and relatives at the Salem Lutheran church on August 19th.

25 Years Ago

September 8, 1998 

  The Longville Bible Chapel pastor Bill Payne will retire from the church after 38 years of service on September 20th.

   The Remer Volunteer Fire Dept. recognized the retirement of Clayton Langenbacher after 25 years and Dennis “Woody” Gravelle after 16 years of service.

   Thank you to everyone who purchased and sold raffle tickets for the American Legion Auxiliary Post 458, Boy River.
