October 25, 1923
Don’t forget the Halloween party given by the teacher and the pupils at the Wallace school on the Island on October 31st.
Charley Swanson, Hugal Modin, Anton Hansen and Albert Walin of Duluth were callers on D.L. Newman of Federal Dam for a duck hunt over at Little Rice Lake.
Bert Woodford returned Friday morning to Nashwauk after spending a few days with Pine Lake friends.

October 22, 1948
Minnesota Power and Light Company are asking their customers to immediately cut their use of electricity for all purposes by 20% for the period of drought emergency.
Mr. and Mrs. John Chase have sold the Friendly Market to Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Tabaka, effective November 1st.
Donna Aultman spent Wednesday evening with her friend Dorothy Emery at Whipholt.

October 25, 1973
Roger Folwick, who is in the US Navy, spent a week at the Glenn Slagle home. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Lindblom (Eloise Folwick) also spent the weekend there.
Harold Henry Hare died October 5th, at age 55. He was a WWII Army veteran and a Remer resident for the past 35 years and was self employed in the logging industry.
Vivian Daley spent several days with Gay Dickensheets at her home on Girl Lake. Gay will be moving to an apartment in Remer for the winter.

Terri Zuehlke-Shepard of Longville won $10, 000 playing the lottery’s Song of the North instant game. The winning ticket was purchased at the Remer Spur.
Vivian Louella Johnson, Nov. 18, 1909 - Oct. 19, 1998 was born in Remer to Albert and Florence (Davis) Menton. She married Hilding Johnson. Burial was in Fairview cemetery.
A Halloween party will be held at the Boy River Community Center Oct. 31, 1-4 p.m.
