More than 80 people gathered on September 28th for the Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner to highlight the important work being done by Faith in Action Volunteers in our communities. This year’s event, with a theme of “Volunteers are the Heart of their Community”, was held at the Northern Lights Event Center in Walker and included a northern feast buffet, special music by Ryan and Jo Pels, heart-healthy appreciation calisthenics, special thanks from the Faith in Action Board of Directors, a gasoline gift card, and recognition of the many ways volunteers have made a difference over the past year.
Volunteers enjoy time together and a Northern Lights Feast at the Faith in Action Volunteer Appreciation Dinner September 28th.
Volunteers especially enjoyed the time to meet and talk with other volunteers. Executive Director Theresa Eclov called out volunteers who have served “above and beyond” this past year, those who have been volunteering for over 15 years, and the new volunteers who recently completed orientation. Since its beginning in 2001, 465 Faith in Action Volunteers in Cass County MN have served over 2100 people and driven 1.5 million miles helping people get where they need to go.
Faith in Action for Cass County is a local charitable organization that connects community volunteers who provide transportation, visiting, respite, homemaking and chore services, basic home repairs, deliver meals on wheels, and build accessibility ramps. Services are available to people of all ages and 80% of the people served are aged 60+. There are no fees or income guidelines. Services are provided by community volunteers based on need.
New Volunteer Drivers are urgently needed throughout Cass County, to drive once a week or once a month, locally or longer distances. Volunteers choose when and how often they are available to share their time and talents. Volunteers receive training, service coordination, liability insurance and mileage reimbursement, as well as recognition. New volunteer training is held each month and many hands make volunteering fun.
