At their November meeting, the Backus Lions donated $1,500 to the Backus Fire Department and $1,500 to the Backus First Response. This money was donated from the proceeds of the Lions Fly-In Pancake Breakfast. Accepting the donations were Jason Smith for the Backus Fire Department and Zack McCarty for the Backus First Response. Money raised by the Backus Lions is from their June Garage Sale, the Fly-In Pancake Breakfast, the annual Peach Sale, and the fall Craft/Bake/Garage Sale. Along with these four events they also open their polish stand Saturdays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. This money goes back into the community through donations to various community events, scholarships to PR-B students and Lions International Foundations.
