Grace Tabaka returned to Pine River where she has been attending school. Her sister Pearl accompanied her and will also be attending high school there.
Billie Shepard seems to be the only lucky trapper in Wabedo. He has caught four this winter.
Frank Comstock of Federal Dam left Thursday for Port Huron, Michigan where he will start working on the lakes for the summer.

April 2, 1948
Martin Allen and his family have returned to Brevik from Squaw Point after working there for several weeks.
Kenneth Beaulieu and Jacob Partridge have re-enlisted in the US Army and left for Knoxville, Tennessee.
Merritt Jordan is the new clerk in the Longville post office. Bill Kline resigned March 21 and left for the Army Air Corp in Illinois.

Mr. and Mrs. Mert Lego, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Lego, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim O’Neal had dinner at Sleepy Hollow and then took in a show in Walker.
Congratulations to the newly wed couple, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Meisner. They were married last Saturday and had their reception and dance at the VFW Hall.
Gilbert Norman called on the Sid Gaines on Little Boy Lake on Thursday evening.

Gordon Harry Giffen passed away April 1. He was born January 15, 1939 in Federal Dam. He married Mary Lou Shoemaker. They moved back to Federal Dam in 1968 where he operated Giffen Rice Farms. He was founder of Faith United Fellowship in 1983.
Mary Warras of Prior Lake and Matthew Eckman of Remer announce their approaching marriage on May 9th.
Kevin Wittwer has been named Postmaster of Longville. He succeeds Pat Yontz who retired in November after seven years of service.
