Spring Bike Fling - to Hack and Back
The Leech Lake Chamber is hosting their annual Spring Bike Fling on Saturday June 24th with the ride beginning in Walker and going to Hackensack and back. Registration for those that have not already online begins at 9 a.m. at Walker City Park, with the ride beginning at 10 a.m.
Stop by to visit the many vendors in the Walker park for a great meal. Starting at 10:30 will be a 2 mile kids bike ride led by Fun Bike Enthusiasts.
Once the ride starts, head south to Hackensack where volunteers from the Hackensack Lions Club, Northwoods Arts Council, Hackensack Lakes Area Community Foundation and the Hackensack Game Changers will be greeting cyclists along 1st Street across from the city park from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., which will be closed during the event. A half way party will be held at Rendezvous Brewing, with craft beer, music and swag. Many vendors from around town will supply a good and hearty lunch after your ride. Geoff Elvee will be entertaining everyone from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. This talented musician specializes in Country / Americana, and will surely have your toes tapping!
Once noon hits, there will be a children’s bike parade starting at the parking lot near the Hackensack Legion. No bike? No problem! The city of Hackensack is supplying bikes and decorations to celebrate the Spring theme. Come with your bike decorated, or come early to dress it up in the lot before the event starts.
To wrap up the day, head back to Walker for live music and drink specials at Portage Brewery with live music and drink specials. You won’t want to miss it!
