On Saturday, August 12, the Hackensack Community Center will be transformed into a treasure trove of art, featuring pottery, fiber, oil and watercolor paintings, photography, whimsical handmade dolls, cozy woolen hats and intricate wood carvings. Six new participants have joined us at this location, ready to dazzle audiences with their exceptional talents. If we were you, we’d make the Community Center our first stop.

Inside you’ll meet Cindy Syme, an experienced ceramic artist whose work reflects the beauty of the natural world. Fiber artist Marcia Almquist crafts exquisite hand-sewn dolls that draw inspiration from storybook characters and American folk art, all meticulously fashioned from organic fibers. Patti Berg is a seasoned and talented millinery, with a passion for creating hats for all seasons. Having a wide range of hat offerings shows her versatility as a designer.

In addition, Jean Hainlen’s exquisite felt creations, blend wool fibers and silk, resulting in captivating pieces that serve both as decorative works and wearable art. Her designs are inspired by the splendor of nature and her cherished experiences in the BWCA. Katrina Trent, a skilled creator in fused glass, passionately expresses her art by painting with glass, employing the copper foil or Tiffany technique. She has also ventured into the captivating world of mosaics. In addition, Isabel Emerson, a painter, designer and writer, brings a childlike simplicity to her projects and adventures, infusing them with wonder and imagination.

Organized by the Northwoods Arts Council, this festival is the longest-running art and literature event in Minnesota. Beyond the art displays, the festival includes 35 authors, activities for children, live music, refreshing beer and delectable food, ensuring that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and make your way to Hackensack for an unforgettable time amidst the enchanting beauty of the north woods. See you there!
