Backus Lions Fly-In Breakfast
The 2023 Fly-in Breakfast was held on July 23. It was a day where the weather cooperated for local residents and for several pilots who came out for the day.
There were 13 planes on the ground as well as a Life Link III helicopter. The Life Link crew consists of a pilot, an EMT, and a paramedic. When asked for one statement they would like to pass on to individuals, it was “We are here when you need us!” The Lions want to acknowledge the crew that flew in from Brainerd to make their helicopter available for people to inspect and, also, to answer questions people had about its operation.
We appreciate all the pilots who took time to fly in on Sunday and made their planes available for people to inspect and, perhaps, visualize being able to someday take a ride in one.
Two young ladies get a briefing from Life Link III crew member Angela at the Backus Lions Fly-In Pancake Breakfast July 23.
Also on hand were the Backus fire department and first responders. They provided a demonstration on using the Jaws of Life. This is a demonstration where people get to see fire department tools in action. It is also an opportunity to learn why it is important to support local fire departments in order that they can purchase tools like the Jaws of Life.
The Backus Lions donate all money made from this breakfast to the Backus Fire Department and Backus First Responders. We appreciate everyone who came out for breakfast to show their support for the Lions and the causes they support. Our next project is our annual peach sale planned for August 11.
