The Northwoods Arts Council (NAC) is delighted to present the 28th edition of its Art and Book Festival,

set to take place on Saturday, August 12th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the charming town of Hackensack. This one-of-a-kind event promises an enchanting atmosphere of community engagement, accompanied by the showcase of 65 exceptionally talented artists and 35 creative authors.

NAC’s dedication to fostering artistic ingenuity shines through its careful selection of artists who specialize in crafting handmade works, each a testament to their individual creative brilliance. This year, the festival welcomes a host of new artists, adding to the diversity of mediums available for purchase. Attendees will have the pleasure of exploring an extensive range of artistic expressions, including oils, acrylics, printing, photography, wood fiber, paper, clay, metal, and captivating jewelry pieces. With the festive season just around the corner, this event offers a splendid opportunity for early gift shopping for

Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, or charming hostess presents.

The festival promises something special for everyone, even the young ones. At the Kid’s Tent on the ball field, children can participate in creating their own percussion instruments, and later march down to the band to join in a song or two. Returning by popular demand, the Kokoro Center for Music and the Performing Arts will sponsor a captivating Poetry Safari—an interactive adventure for children that weaves through the heart of the festival.

For families with children aged 4 to 10, the WonderTrek Children’s Museum will be an outdoor haven of interactive play materials, ensuring little ones stay entertained and engaged throughout the event.

To ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all visitors, the festival provides ample shaded seating, catering to seniors and those with disabilities. Guests can relax and savor the day’s offerings under the welcoming shelter of the “Big Top” tent, conveniently situated near the food trucks, or choose from several other umbrella-shaded seating areas.

Acknowledging the crucial support that makes this cherished event possible, the Northwoods Arts

Council extends its gratitude to the Five Wings Arts Council and the Clean Water Land and Legacy

Amendment for their unwavering financial backing.

Mark your calendars and make a date with creativity in Hackensack on August 12th! This art and literature festival promises to be a memorable experience for all who attend. We look forward to seeing you there!
