A successful weekend at Remer’s Bigfoot Days

After missing last year due to the road construction project, Bigfoot Days  at the Home of Bigfoot, Remer, MN saw record crowds!

Friday evening, Bigfoot storytelling was attended by a large crows despite the rain. 3 Bigfoot research teams told captivating stories. The rain cleared just in time for the Bigfoot Olympics to be held in the playground behind the pavilion.

Saturday started with a pancake breakfast that had full tables for the three hours that the volunteers cooked pancakes and sausage.

The Bigfooot 5k had 76 total runners, with the top three from each category being awarded. Connor Thoennes came in first in the adult male category with the fastest time of the day, 18:35 on his 19th birthday! Dan Altstatt and Paul Talarico came in second and third place, respectively. Emma Williams won first in the adult female category with a time of 23:11, followed by Rachel Gales in second and Katie Berndt in third. In the youth male category, Thomas Berndt took first with a time of 21:25, Henry Paquin took second and Keaven Dunning took third. Hazel Condit was the fastest youth female with a time of 24:19, while Blake and Addison Wilkie took second and third, respectively.

The Kids Games hosted by the Harvest Church and clothing sale by “The Store” were well attended by all visitors to Bigfoot Days. The Harvest Church yard was busy from start to finish with the sounds of laughing and cheering from the children!

The scavenger hunts saw teams running wildly throughout the streets of Remer. The winning team was the same team that has won for the last three years, “Jim, Jodi, Scott & Sharon”.

The youth Bigfoot calling contest had a record number of entrants and was enjoyed by all. Prizes were given to the top 4 in the competition.

The Bigfoot Storytelling on Saturday was attended by hundreds of people and at least four different research teams! One of the teams went on a night walk Saturday Evening where they had a Class A Bigfoot sighting and one researcher even got hit in the head by a stone that was thrown by Bigfoot!

The Bigfoot BBQ contestants sold out of the wonderful meats they brought and Triple T BBQ took first, the Remer Volunteer Fire Department took second and Uncle Gern’s BBQ took third.

Bigfoot Bingo called by none other than Dan Russel was a huge hit as always with Brooklyn Ruyak taking home the $25 cover-all at the end of the 15 game event.

There was great live music by SunRide at the Muni in Remer all afternoon and more fantastic tunes by Garage-19 at the PUB all night!

The adult Bigfoot calling contest at 10 p.m. at the PUB saw the largest contestant pool in history! Judging was done by Abe Del Rio of the Minnesota Bigfoot Research Team. Matt won the contest and took home an awesome swag bag filled with Bigfoot gear.

A successful end to a very successful event in the Home of Bigfoot, Remer, MN!
