   Nature decided that our clothes needed a wash, so it drizzled on us the entire contest, but that didn’t deter most of the families that flocked the docks on the Fourth of July! We had 87 registered kids and about 75 stayed to the end for prizes and a chance to be the Grand Champion of the day.

   I’m not sure how everyone ate 280 hot dogs in the rain, but they did well. The overall temperature was warm, so it made the rain not miserable. If you read this in time, you can still make it to the July 11th Sweetheart Days contest, Legion Auxiliary Games in the Park, Parade and other Sweetheart Days activities.

Kids fishing contest ages 0-5

At the Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest Tuesday, July 4,  26 kids in the 0-5 year old group, caught and released 31 fish. Ace F. caught the largest fish (5.4 oz.); Grayson N. reeled in the first fish; Emmett B. landed the most fish (8); and Shepherd P. hooked the smallest fish (3 1/2 inches).

Kids fishing contest ages 6-9

At the July 4, Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest, 36 kids in the 6-9 year old group, caught and released 126 fish. Cullen E. caught the largest fish (7.4 oz.); Blake C. reeled in the first fish; Kate B. landed the most fish (32); and the smallest fish was hooked by Oliver V. (4 inches) .

Kids fishing contest ages 10-15

In the 10-15 year old group, Tuesday, July 4, 27 kids caught and released 80 fish. Gavin C. hooked the largest fish (8.7 oz.); the first fish was caught by Jack W.; Jacob H. caught the most fish (30) and the smallest fish (3 inches) was landed by Graham C.

   The dates for this year are every Tuesday, June 13th – August 15th, 2023 from 11am - 12:30pm. Be early to register before it starts. We look forward to seeing everyone that can make it.
