   Local author Burce Carlson will be featured speaker at a potluck held at the Hackensack Hub Thursday, July 20 beginning at noon. Carlson, a local author with many credentials, he has recently released a new book called “A North Country Lake Throughout the Seasons”. Bruce combines almost 70 years of observations, along with his training as a scientist, to provide a unique perspective on the natural history of an iconic north-central Minnesota lake. From ice-out in the spring, through the open water season, to the next winter, this profusely illustrated book provides a vivid picture of the seasonal changes in a lake. The author has taken and analyzed hundreds of hours of underwater videos of this lake over the past 30 years. His background as a fish biologist has allowed him to paint a vivid picture of the complex seasonal rhythms of life that takes place in any north country lakes. Join us for a journey on and under the water in our lakes. 

   Join us at noon for our pot luck .. Bring a dish to pass. If you just want to come to hear the speaker, plan to come about 12.45 p.m. with his talk to start  about 1 p.m.
