100 Years Ago

January 25, 1923

   Bernard Anderson has been hauling logs to the Longville mill in Kego for Harvey Fee.

   Ray Tabaka is running the tractor in the Brooks planing mill at Longville.

   George Ruscoe installed a telephone at his home and connected it to the Wabedo line.

 75 Years Ago

January 15, 1948

   Henry Engebretson sawed wood at H.W. Dickson’s on Wednesday.

   The young folks at Federal Dam have been enjoying some skating on Peter’s Pond.

   Arlene Tabaka is attending the Chevrolet bookkeeping school this week in St. Paul.

50 Years Ago

January 18, 1973

   The Longville Lakes Snowmobile Club will present their second annual Sno-Daze on Girl Lake with snowmobile games.

   A bulldozer on Section 16 in Blind Lake township has taken all the oak thickets where the acorns grow for the deer. It was the only deer country we had here.

   Mr. and Mrs. George Fletcher and baby left Remer for Corpus Christi where George is stationed in the Navy.

25 Years Ago

January 20, 1998 

   The 11th Annual Mid-Minnesota 150 Sled Dog Race from Aitkin to Remer will be held February 6, 7, and 8.

   Beth Holmdahl of Longville poses with her Polaris 4-wheeler she won at the Sno-mobile Club banquet, Jan. 10th 

   Some 138 people were served by the Longville Area Family Center’s Toys for Tots and Holiday Meals program during the Christmas season.
