August 23, 1923
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gustin left Federal Dam Monday for their new home in Michigan. He has been the depot agent here for several years.
A new school route was established out of Longville and runs on the road to Brevik as far as E.H. Atwood’s place and the far end for those that are ready for high school work.
Leech Lake was so rough and the weather so cold that the Megawatt did not go to the big lake Tuesday, but Wednesday morning it left bright and early towing sixteen row boats.

Miss Patty Padgham is home from Bemidji where she was employed during the summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Swentofske drove to Minneapolis to pick up Mrs. Fred Swentofske from the U of MN hospital where she had surgery two weeks ago.
Dorothy Bonga of Ah-Gwah-Ching is spending her vacation at her mother’s home, Mrs. Eunice Bonga of Onigum.

Clelly Ford, a brother of Riley, is here from Kankakee, Illinois visiting at Riley’s home.
Shirley Byrne and her two children of Walker were visiting her mother, Kathryn Andrews of Remer.
Everyone is invited to the Appreciation Dance honoring Russ Nyvall on August 24th at the VFW hall. There will be live music so come on in and “shake a leg.”

A Community Hymn Sing and Ice Cream Social will be held Aug. 30th at Remer City Park. Olde Tyme Quartette, Jolene Drussow and members of the Itasca Orchestral Society will provide special music.
Helen and Curly Haase will celebrate their 40th anniversary with an Open House at their home in Remer home on Aug. 30th.
The Soo Line Depot Steering Committed accepted preliminary proposals from architects that will lead to the renovation of the old depot and adjacent warehouse as a community visitor center.
