   Last week we were rained out, but this week the weather was just about perfect.  Well, until the end right before prize distribution when the wind picked up and turtled our largest canopy.  Thankfully, nobody was hurt.

The kids didn’t catch very many fish this week, but they seemed to be very small, or bullheads. The minnow racing champion almost wasn’t, but showed up just in time to race off, and then win.  The casting champion won without competition, and the Grand Prize Champion had the winning ticket!

Kids fishing contest ages 0-5

At the Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest Tuesday, Aug. 8,  28 kids in the 0-5 year old group, caught and released 20 fish. Elliette S. caught the largest fish (4.0 oz.); Molly T. reeled in the first fish; Huntley S. and Briffs A. tied for the most fish (3 each); and Sheyanne R. hooked the smallest fish (1.5 inches).

Kids fishing contest ages 6-9

At the Aug. 8 Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest, 47 kids in the 6-9 year old group, caught and released 79 fish. Cullen E. caught the largest fish (10.6 oz.); Liam S. reeled in the first fish; Rayne M. landed the most fish (13); and the smallest fish was hooked by Maverick K. (1 7/8 inches) .

Kids fishing contest ages 10-15

In the 10-15 year old group, Tuesday, Aug. 8, 21 kids caught and released 55 fish. Valarie L. hooked the largest fish (13.7 oz.); the first fish was caught by Geena L.; Logen S. caught the most fish (16) and the smallest fish (2 3/8 inches) was landed by Charlie E.

Casting Contest Winner

Isaac A. of Storm Lake, IA took home top honors in the casting contest.
