August 16, 1923
A quiet wedding took place at the Community Church parsonage Wednesday when Riley Ford and Grace Showalter of Longville were married by Rev. W.E. Hammond. Witnesses were Ida Showalter and Violet Ford, mothers of the couple.
H. Bloyer of Remer was busy putting up wire and installing a telephone in the Koenig cottage on Pleasant Point.
There will be a dance at the Blind Lake school on Saturday night. There will be good music and Geo. Ruscoe will act as floor manager. Cake and ice cream will be served all night and a regular lunch at midnight.

August 15, 1948
Miss Ardith Button, daughter of Nora Button, becomes the bride of William B. Quinn, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Quinn of Hackensack on August 21st.
John Day and family spent the day Sunday at his father’s home, Richard Day, in Onigum.
Miss Hattie Thomas of Minneapolis is spending her vacation at the home of her mother, Mrs. Hannah Thomas.

David Snyder from Peoria, Illinois is spending a few days with his folks, the Albert Snyders.
Mike Sherman passed away Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Orrin Henderson of Federal Dam.
The Pleasant Lake Recreation Association held their annual meeting on August 8th at the Birch Lake town hall.

Ollie and Hazel Purcell of Davenport, IA celebrated their 60th consecutive year vacationing at Graves Lake resort near Remer. Owners George and Larry Branstad hosted the party.
Woodland Bank’s Longville office introduced its new time and temperature sign to the area last week.
Ponto Lake township recently honored two retiring board members Clerk Lena Kruckow for 30 years service and Supervisor Dick Reider for 57 years of service.
