   The Longville Area Community Garden, Walking Trail and Dog Park held a ceremony on August 5. Simon Whitehead, former Cass County Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) Educator, cut the ribbon. The “Donor Tree” was dedicated which has an “ornament” for each of the sponsors, donors and volunteers for the project.

Some of the many gardeners, volunteers and supporters showed up for the dedication ceremony.

One of the unique features of the garden is an automatic watering system designed my local gardener Dave Owen. The system uses rainwater collected and stored from the Wabedo Township garage roof to water each garden bed on three zones. Another feature is the children’s garden which was constructed as an Eagle Scout project by Carter Magnus.
