100 Years Ago

April 26, 1923

   If you have the occasion to tell a man what you really think of him, use a long-distance telephone.

   Ed Slagle, Ralph Gadbow, Riley Ford, and Harry Horton are working at Nashwauk on the Iron Range.

   Harry Thorson is erecting a building at the back of his lot in Longville to be used as a garage and powerhouse.

75 Years Ago

April 16, 1948

   There were 52 people attending Sunday services at the Blind Lake school.

   Miss Plough, teacher at Bena, and Vern Larson were married Easter Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob McCabe.

   Mr. and Mrs. Gunderson and Mr. and Mrs. Haugen attended the wedding dance of Betty Aultman at Hill City last week, March 31st.

50 Years Ago

April 19, 1973

   Wayne H. “Goog” Woodruff died January 12th. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Hercil Woodruff. He graduated from Hackensack High school and served four years in the army. He married Rosemond Freeberg, May 10, 1944.

   Mrs. Ken Strait entertained with a luncheon baby shower at the Cottage Cafe on Friday afternoon for Mrs. Bud Slagle. 

   Mr. and Mrs. Monte McKeig are the proud parents of a baby boy, John James, born April 8th.

April 14, 1998 

   The Mule Lake store has renovated its bait and tackle shop. Owners since 1992 Mike and Patty Underwood used the winter months to remodel.

   Delbert M. Manee, July 8, 1907 - April 15, 1998, following retirement, moved to Island Lake near Remer where he owned a sawmill. He was Trelipe township supervisor for seven years. 

   Jeanne and Tom Pingel of Thunder Lake Lodge have become members of the Congress of Minnesota Resorts.
