   Carter Magnus of Longville, and a member of Boy Scout Troop 3327 from Waconia, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on Feb. 23.

 

   Carter is the son of Scott and Allison Magnus and is in eleventh grade at Walker Hackensack Akeley High School. 

   To earn the rank of Eagle, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out an Eagle project. Carter’s Eagle Scout project was conducted at the Longville Community Garden where he redesigned the food shelf plots for greater food production, better dirt containment, easier access for planting and harvesting and better drainage. He also added additional seating, more planter boxes and planted sunflowers in the Children’s garden. The planter containers in the children’s garden were done in fun colors, to be more inviting, along with gardening place cards with fun facts about gardening.

   Scott and Allison invite everyone to celebrate Carter’s achievement on Sat., Apr. 22 from 1 - 3 p.m at Salem Lutheran Church, 1340 Co Rd 5, Longville.
