100 Years Ago

Sept. 29, 1922

  The Old Settlers Club was entertained at Longville by Jas. Conley on Sunday. The Old Settlers Club is a very exclusive organization, and 16 plates were set at the Conley table. 

   Wayne McVay hauled the cement from Pine River last week for the new chicken house which they are building. 

   The fire is raging in our county and every man has been called to fight. The only home in danger yet is the M. Snell place near Inguadona, and Mrs. Snell and children were moved out Tuesday evening. 

 75 Years Ago

Oct. 1, 1947

   J.W. Ford of Mizpah has been helping to put in a new basement under the L.W. Showalter home at Longville.

   Camp O My Dreams Resort on Long Lake at Longville has been sold by Keith Likens to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hasken.

   Mrs. R. J. Horton and baby son Jimmy returned home to Remer from the Grand Rapids hospital.

50 Years Ago

Sept. 28, 1972

   Mike Weise and son Lewie of Blind Lake township were at a plowing contest and visited friends and relatives on the way down and back.

   Enjoying dinner at the Woman Lake Inn on Sunday were Ancel and Ruth Bishop, Mrs. Burton Livgard and Irv and Rachel Scheibe.

   Ground has been broken for the new school garage at Remer and the building seems to be going smoothly.

Sept. 30, 1997

   Duane and Suzanne Schock announce the upcoming marriage of the son Jay to Jennifer Ames. They are both graduates of St. Cloud State U. and work at Sedwick, Inc.

   Members of the Salem Lutheran Church congregation were on hand Friday for the raising of the cross above the sanctuary of its new church in Longville.

   Rozella Edith Seagren died September 22nd. She graduated high school in Long Prairie and moved to Spokane, WA where she owned a restaurant. After marrying Robert in 1969, they moved to Boy River in 1975.
