100 Years Ago
Sept. 8, 1922
Mr. Orlie Green of Backus and Miss Anna Hagen were united in marriage at Remer by Rev. Richardson. The groom is employed in the M. & I depot at Backus.
The Longville Fair will take place Saturday September 16th.
The hunting season for ducks will open Saturday the 16th. The duck hunting camps at Partridge Point near Bear Island will open at the start of the season and Haldeman says his houseboat will be ready for use the first day.

Sept. 5, 1947
An interesting sight on Lake Louise in Blind Lake township is a 21 foot long and 6 feet high beaver house.
A bridal shower was held at the Boy River village hall for Mary Brown who is to become the wife of Charles Stern this September.
Jake Fleisher came to Hackensack in 1905 where he operated a sawmill and blacksmith and woodworking shops. He also managed the Backus Lumber Yard in Hackensack.

August 31, 1972
Head Coach C.L. French of Remer High School announced that the 1972 football season will open with 14 returning lettermen.
On August 17th Ralph Felton was honored with a birthday dinner on his 87th birthday. Guests were Russ, Mary Ellen and Oscar Nyvall, Fritz and Donna Felton and children, Mr. and Mrs. Corwin Felton and Mrs. and Mrs. David Felton.
Louis Chalich buys 152 pounds of wild rice from Jim Cloud Sr. and Jr., which they harvested on the opening day of wild ricing season.

The Remer Volunteer Fire Department is having a pancake breakfast August 31st at the Remer Fire Hall.
Larry Swanson is the new Northland School Superintendent. He came to Remer from Butternut, Wisconsin.
