Medical call results in juvenile death investigation

   Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on Thursday, October 20th 2022 at 3:54 PM, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a medical situation at a residence on Midway Circle, Turtle Lake Township, rural Walker MN. Deputies and responders arrived and learned that a 10-year-old juvenile male had fallen from a tree causing injury. Medical aid was immediately initiated, and the victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone to intercept a medical helicopter, where further life-saving efforts were performed; however, the victim was pronounced deceased. 

   Assisting at the scene were Leech Lake Tribal Police, North Memorial Ambulance and Sanford Air Med. The investigation continues with the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
