Take and make kits available at Longville Library

   With the colder weather coming upon us, now is a great time to spend some cozy indoor time doing craft and hobby work. To help you with that, the Margaret Welch Memorial Library in Longville is offering a variety of upcoming free take and make kits. These take and make kits are part of the Legacy Programs which are funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov 4, 2008 which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota’s art and cultural heritage.  Upcoming kits include: 

   Stone Bead Necklace: Back again, this popular kit will once again be offered at the library beginning Tues., Nov. 22. Using a few simple items from home, create a beautiful natural stone bead necklace. Kit by local artist and flint knapper Tom Kulju.

   Paper Ball Ornaments: made from strips of scrapbook paper formed into spheres, finished with a decorative bead at the top and bottom. Theses kits were put together by Fay Yochum and will available beginning Tues., Nov. 29.

   Engraved Barnquilt (wall art) Program: Several designs will be available to pick from to create a one-of-a-kind piece.  Kits include all supplies needed to complete a 16” x 16” engraved wooden board, paint and color wheel, brushes and detailed instructions. Kits by Haci Stumbo of the Greatest Gift MN are available Thurs., Dec. 1.

   These kits will make great gifts, are free of charge and will be available at the Margaret Welch Memorial Library in Longville while supplies last, so come in and pick up a fun activity to inspire your creative side.  Kits are appropriate for older kids to adult.  There are still a limited supply of kits available for the leather feather keychain kit by Tom Kulju, and beaded hoop earring kit by Tawny Cale.
