November 24, 1922
Chester Garrity of Hackensack and Otto Christianson of Woman Lake nearly drowned while duck hunting on IXL Lake. They were returning to camp when the canoe overturned, throwing them into the water. Leo Barthelemy and Mr. Mowatt, both of Hackensack, who were hunting nearby, heard their calls for help and went to their assistance, getting them both safely to shore.
Sam White, of Onigum, has been working at Federal Dam for the past couple of months and has a position there for the winter.

November 21, 1947
A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Giffin on November 7th at Deer River Hospital.
Mr. M. Larson moved onto the Art Lund place last Thursday at Boy River.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles McAndrews are the proud parents of a baby boy born on November 8th at Deer River.

November 17, 1972
Mr. Harry Larson, 79, died November 1st. He was a resident for 15 years of Hackensack and 70 years of the area.
Thirteen members of the Yard and Garden Club enjoyed dinner at “The Rainbow” in Grand Rapids Wednesday evening.
The mini skirt and no-bra look may cause “whiplash” to the male population, but it has improved the safety factor in women’s driving.

Doug Scheper and LeRoy Weimer open Northwoods Custom Meats in Remer. It will offer custom meat processing as well as retail meat and related products.
Diana Slagle of Longville has been named postmaster at Remer. She was a clerk in the Longville office for 19 years before becoming postmaster in Garrison for two years and Outing for the past three years.
The foundation for the new Longville Area Ambulance Center was completed Saturday by Jeff Peterson. Darold Daudt Construction is in charge of the project.
