May 26, 1922
The first meeting of the Boy River village council took place on May 19th. The first officials were O. E. Campbell, E. R. Sherman, Olaf Johnson, P. L. Spatgen, and F. M. Raines. Campbell was president and Sherman was appointed clerk.
The new Chase Hotel in Walker will have its Grand Opening on June 8th.

May 23, 1947
The Red Owl store owned by L.W. Orton was sold to John Tabaka and John Chase. Orton started his grocery store 22 years ago. The new name is “The Friendly Market”.
Supper guests at the Harry McKeebe home at Blind Lake were Mr. and Mrs. John Dauber, Mrs. Eva Beals, Maxine McKeebe, Mrs. E. McKeebe, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Dauber and baby and George Wolford.
Hackensack is having a new nightclub going up just south of Emma’s Lunch and is being built by Ed Nelson, former owner of the Trading Post.

May 18, 1972
Pearl Williams, principal of the Walker Hackensack school, will retire from a lifetime of teaching and school administration when the school year ends.
The Mothers’ Day concert, given by the Longville Elementary school, was well received and Mrs. Grossman is to be commended for all her time and effort.
A shower was held at the Bethany Lutheran Church Wednesday evening honoring the tiny adopted son of Rev. Roger and Mrs. Schelinder.

The congregation of Longville marched in procession from their current church building on Hwy. 84 to the building site among the tall pines overlooking Craig Lake. A groundbreaking service was conducted on May 4th.
Longville Elementary students celebrated May Day by bringing handmade baskets of treats and handmade flowers to residents and business people of Longville.
