LONGVILLE CITY COUNCIL

MEETING MINUTES UNAPPROVED

Wednesday, May 18, 2022

   Mayor Jocko Kline called the Regular Scheduled Meeting of the month to order on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.

   Pledge of Allegiance

   PRESENT: Mayor: Jocko Kline, Council Members: Phyllis Eck, Neil Tobiason, Nathan Tabaka and Greg Gilsrud. City Clerk: Christina Herheim. Employees: Sara Putnam, and Dean Murray. Citizens: Edward Pommier, Bob Helling and Steve Shallbetter

   ABSENT: Deputy City Clerk: Dianne Larson and Nancy Raines

  1. M/S/P: Gilsrud/Tabaka to approve agenda of Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

  2. M/S/P: Eck/Tobiason to approve Regular City Council Meeting Minutes of April 20, 2022

  3. New Business:

  a. M/S/P: Tabaka/Eck to approve Temporary On Sale Liquor License for the Longville Volunteer Fire Department  for 7-30-22. 

  b. M/S/P: Gilsrud/Tobaison to approve Vendor Permit for Tommy Woog/Water Wars for July 4, 2022

  4. Licenses and Permits: None

  5. Old Business: None

  6. Citizens addressing the council: None

  7. Engineer’s report: None

  8. Commissioner’s Reports:

  a. Kline

  i. Police: None

  ii. Ballfield: Water is on and the staining has been completed.

  iii. Park: Lights have been installed in the pavilion. These are on a timer so they can’t be left on.

  b. Eck

  i. Library

  1. Regional library retreat went well. Dean will meet with the library staff to address any building concerns prior to summer. 

  2. The construction project was discussed, and it was decided that a lockbox will be placed for contractors to use for access. The library will be closed for a few days for safety during construction, signage will be placed in closed areas.

  3. Summer reading program for kids will begin June 6th and last through July 29th. 

  4. Hot spots are now available at the library.

  5. Friends of the library book sale dates are 5/28, 6/25, 7/28, and 9/17.

  ii. Cemetery: Spring Clean up is underway.

  c. Tobiason

  i. Airport:

  1. Fuel on hand – We have approximately 2420 gallons on hand.  The price is $4.57 per gallon.  

  2. Maintenance – No known issues

  3. Depredation Permit- In process

  d. Tabaka

  i. Sewer: Murray attended sewer training to complete his necessary hours for upkeep of his license. 

  ii. Land Use:

  1. John Hendrickson- home and garage

  2. Erik Jensen- RV Deck

  e. Gilsrud

  i. Streets: 

  1. The city is not participating in the road chloride program

  2. 2 trees along City streets/City building to be removed.

  3. Murray presented an idea for placement of public restrooms. The council has given him permission to get bids and put a plan in place to pursue that idea.

  4. M/S/P: Gilsrud/Tobaison to approve the Tabaka easement on Birch lane to remain as road currently is, at 20’.

  5. Moran easement on Riverside Dr has been tabled to investigate costs of moving road.

  ii. Liquor

  1. LLBS: Manager Raines reported to Gilsrud that things are ready for another busy summer. 

  2. Docksider and LLBS have the Paws and Claws event on May,21, 2022

  9. Clerk’s Report:None

  10. Employee relations: 

  a. Gilsrud/Tabaka- hiring of Mary Olson- Deputy Clerk.

  11. Administration and Financial

  a. M/S/P:Gilsrud/Tabaka to approve Payroll, Payroll liabilities and claims from check #71217-71285 in the amount of $166,740.22 Debit Card amount of $322.02  totaling $167,062.24.

M/S/P: Tabaka/Gilsrud to adjourn meeting at 4:39 p.m.
