June 30, 1922
For Sale: 200 acres of land near Remer for $12 per acre. Good soil, near main road, good water easily procured.
Ed Schriber, formerly of Backus, died June 25th. He was one of the first county commissioners and served as deputy sheriff for two years.
A large number of people went to Walker for Terry’s Big Uncle Tom’s Cabin show.

June 27, 1947
Howard Winger, ex GI of Remer, became the first veteran to file on 80 acres under the new homestead law which gives veterans the opportunity to acquire tax forfeited land.
Longville village has street lights for the first time. Harold Mix was recently hired by the village as the night constable.
Boy River now has a café with S.G. Franks as proprietor. It’s open 7 days a week and
carries a line of magazines, Sunday papers, ice cream and malted milks.

June 23, 1972
Mrs. Edwin Sawyer and Mrs. Frank DeLong attended a 4-H Federation board meeting in Pine River Thursday night.
The Hackensack American Legion Auxiliary Unit 200 has two Gold Star mothers, Mabel Bostrom and Mabel Frederick. The oldest member at 97 years old is Julia Kearns.
The Band Boosters Club of Northland High School will be sponsoring three flea markets this summer.

The Corner Junction Convenience store was purchased on April 1st by Wayne Weaver from Lew and Mary Ann Atkinson. Wayne owned the A&W in the 70s for five years. Marion Hausken is hired as the baker and cook.
Carol Adams sells the Pine Cone Press to Bill and Pat DeLost and their grown children, David and Dawn.
Wilma and Ron Harmon lived in Ohio until they retired to Longville in 1981. They spent 14 years at their home in Inguadona.
