Hackensack St. Paul’s Lutheran Church to Hold Its 39th Annual “Country Fair”

For the 39th year, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Hackensack will hold its fundraising Country Fair, featuring a variety of handicrafts, food, plants, and all-around fun.  The event will be held July 20th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the airconditioned Fellowship Hall.

Morning coffee and rolls will be available from 9:00 until gone!  Lunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature pulled barbecue pork sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and pie. Lunch is also available for take-out.   And again we will feature ROOT BEER FLOATS FOR JUST 50 cents!

St. Paul’s members will again be selling their special Sweet and Spicy Garlic Dill Pickles!

The fair is well-known for its bake sale, featuring a large selection of bread, rolls, cakes, cookies, and especially pies, which are sold by the slice or whole.

There will be several booths selling garden produce, green thumb plants and outdoor decorations for the lawn or garden, as well as jellies and jams.  You will be able to purchase arts and crafts, hand-crafted wood projects, toys and a large variety of “nearly new” items.  Another booth will feature various flavors of Frozen Butter Braids and Caramel Rolls for you to take home and bake.

A group of quilters stays busy from September through May making tied quilts.  These quilts are given to a variety of programs and agencies throughout the year.  The quilters also choose some of these tied quilts to be sold at the Fair.

In addition, several ladies from the local area create one special hand-stitched quilt and sell $1.00 raffle tickets for it.  This year a queen size “Cabin in the Woods” pattern quilt is being raffled.  Tickets will be sold up to the time of the drawing which will be held at 2 p.m., at the conclusion of the Country Fair.  The winner need not be present to win.

Over the years some of the booths have changed but one thing that has not changed is the hard work and dedication of members and friends who work on the project.

The event is always held the third Wednesday of July, and is St. Paul’s largest fundraiser of the year.  Profits from the sale are used for mission projects, church projects, and also community programs.

St. Paul’s is located on the south end of Hackensack, east of Hwy. 371.  See you at the Fair!
