100 Years Ago
July 7, 1922
Those who went to Backus for the 4th witnessed two baseball games, an aeroplane, and a dance. At Longville, the principal attraction was a baseball game between Longville and Remer. There were many exciting plays, a few rotten decisions to settle, and some good baseball.
The Remer American Legion dance pavilion and hall (30’ x 60’) was completed in 1922.
75 Years Ago
July 4, 1947
Hallett’s Tea Room is now open in the former Hackensack Laundry building operated at one time by C. Gilia. Ethel Rucker is the cook and Linda Poland, the waitress.
Mrs. Mary Neururer lived in Federal Dam for 36 years. She died on June 24 and is survived by children: Joe, Robert, Garry, Peter, John, Marie Nistler, and Margaret Balego.
A number of folks enjoyed a seaplane ride Saturday in Boy River country. It landed at Nolle’s Resort, and they plan on being there one day a week.

June 30, 1972
The Clint Perhams arrived at Blackwater Lake from California and are building their permanent home here.
Larry Larson opened the Ice Cream Store between the Liquor store and the VFW Hall.
Jim Geary opened a fruit and vegetable stand between the VFW Hall and Nyvall’s.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Berger received a letter from son Hal stating that he had arrived safely and is stationed in Germany.

Remer Arts & Crafts Shop is in their new location in the former Remer Drug building on Hwy. 200.
Jennifer Evans and Jeffrey Morris announce their engagement. Parents are John and Sheila Evans of Deer River, Robert and June Howendobler of Remer and Harvey and Bonnie Morris of Cohasset.
Summerhill Townhouses located on Girl Lake in Longville are constructed and brought to you by Dick Tabaka and Terry Daudt. These are the first townhouses in Longville.
