Walker Talkers compete at the Denfeld Rotary Tournament
Last Saturday the Walker Talkers traveled to Duluth to compete in their largest competition yet this season. Denfeld High School hosted 28 schools with 430 speakers. The WHA Speech Team brought 14 speakers and left with nine awards overall.
The following speakers earned ribbons: Reagan Tabaka earned a ribbon in Informative, Sophia Landreville earned a ribbon in Poetry and Elijah Cox earned a ribbon in Prose.
The following speakers placed within the top fourteen of their category and competed in the honor final round: Ada Muller placed fifth in Discussion, Madison Kendrick placed fifth in Drama, Leo Burns placed fifth in Humor and Julia Schock placed second in Drama.
Two Walker speakers placed within the top seven of their category and competed in the final round: Lily Pedersen placed sixth overall in Humor and Katelyn DeLost placed second overall in Creative.
In the team awards, Chaska, Shakopee, Mounds Park Academy, Centennial, and Hermantown placed first through fifth respectively.
The team has now competed in four in-person tournaments in the 2022 season, and they are excited to continue live competition moving forward. This Saturday they will travel to the historic Hibbing High School for the fifth tournament of the season.
